How do I find IP address and Gateway on bluecurve modem>??

I am trying to find my IP address and gateway for a bluecurve modem... for a device plugged in the ethernet plug on the back of modem... it shows 10.0.0.1 but that one wont work. it wants the 178. whatever one... and i need the ip and the gateway.... any ideas???

That is the "public" IP-address assigned by Shaw to your cable-modem.

For any device connected (Ethernet or WiFi), the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) client on the device should automatically ask your cable-modem for a "private" IP-address (10.0.0.xxx) and the gateway (always 10.0.0.1) to be used by your device.

Strange. What device are you trying to connect? A computer? Your own router? A smart-TV?
