Problem is they have no competition in Canada, sp they don't improve. There's only 3 companies and they all charge an insane amount for just terrible service. I can't stream a football game without it buffering 20 times a quarter

As far as I know, the competitors are:
I don't know the providers in Que'bec, and further east.
All the other companies purchase "bulk" Internet access from Shaw / Rogers / Telus / Bell.
> they all charge an insane amount
Numbers, please, not "arm-waving".
> for just terrible service.

Welcome to this peer-to-peer discussion forum, where volunteers try to help.
What is the source for the stream? CTV? CBC? SportsNet? TSN? Other?
What speed of Internet are you paying for? run the Shaw SpeedTest to see what you're actually getting.
What speed is your computer's processor?
If you are using any "CAT-5" Ethernet cable, which tops-out at 100 Mbps, responsibly recycle it, and use a "AT-5e" or a "CAT-6" high-speed cable.

@Njbrideau There is lots of competition in Western Canada, depending on where you live; Rogers, Telus, Sasktel, Bell, Xplornet, Starlink and several TPIA providers.
@mdk Shaw Direct doesn’t offer internet.
@Njbrideau -- Shaw Direct is a competitor to Shaw/Telus/Bell/others in the market for TV providers.
