Lag Spikes While Playing Online Games

Not applicable

About a week ago I started getting massive lag spikes while playing online video games like team fortress 2. A lag spike happens every few minutes or so and is very frustrating. I am using wireless but I don't think it's a problem because I have only started lagging a week ago and no one else in my household is using up all the bandwidth.

I have ran a traceroute with one of the valve game servers and here are my results:

Tracing route to eat.valve.net [192.69.96.1]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 3 ms 2 ms 2 ms hitronhub.home [192.168.0.1]
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 12 ms 42 ms 12 ms rc1st-tge0-8-0-32-1.vc.shawcable.net [64.59.148.109]
4 15 ms 19 ms 22 ms rc2wt-be50-1.wa.shawcable.net [66.163.70.106]
5 15 ms 17 ms 15 ms rx0wt-valve-corporation.wa.shawcable.net [66.163.68.74]

10 * * * Request timed out.
11 * * * Request timed out.
12 45 ms 41 ms 43 ms eat.valve.net [192.69.96.1]

Trace complete.

Is there anyway to fix this problem?

Hey jeffreyjin,

Since you are gaming over Wifi, it may be a case of WiFi Interference. Depending on which network you are on, I'd recommend changing your WiFi channel with the steps here to see if that helps. Anything on the 2.4G network will work best on 1, 6 or 11 and the 5G network anything under 48. Let me know how it goes.
