@tc10 -- an Apple web-page shows the maximum WiFi speeds for various MacBook versions.
When using an Ethernet cable, be sure that it is "CAT 5e", because "CAT 5" cables are limited to 100 Mbps.
Thank you. The weblink is what I was looking for
for my Macbook Pro 2019 it should be ac@5 GHz | 1300 Mbps | 80 MHz | 9 (VHT) | 3/MIMO |
I am using Cat 6 ethernet cable. My ethernet links are working fine at 1Gbps down and 100 Mbps up.
It is my Macbook wifi test that is very low at 100-150 while my iPad and iPhone are both about 900 Mbps.
Shaw tech support is sending me out a new splitter to see if that helps.
@tc10 Your wired speeds are fine, a splitter won’t do anything to improved you wifi, which is likely a range/interference or hardware issue.
@tc10 --
On my 2019 Macbook Pro with ethernet connected, my speed is 900+ down & 95+ up.
At the same time, on WiFi, my speed is 100-400 down & 60+ up.
That is quite a range: 100 to 400.
How close is your 2019 MacBook Pro to the Shaw cable-modem when you run the Shaw Speed Test? In the same room? Repeat the test after moving the computer to a nearby room, and then a far-away room.
Is the cable-modem standing up-and-down, or is it on its side? Remember, its antennas are inside the box.
