Set Up ASUS RT-AC5300 w/Hitron?

Not applicable

Can we have a discussion regarding how to set up a 3rd party router like the ASUS RT-AC5300, with the Hitron CGNM-2250?

Do we still need to contact Shaw Technical Support to have them set it for bridge mode? Or can we do it ourself through the administration control panel?

Hi mrbullstr

For the Hitron you would need to contact customer support to have it changed over to bridge mode. Chat is usually the fastest, but Twitter and Facebook support are pretty quick, too.

You can use pass-through in the web menus if your account is setup for two IP addresses.  Otherwise yes for actual bridge mode you need to contact Shaw.

ok if you want to get the app on the phone for the ac5300 and control it outside the home you need to port forward in the Hitron gateway.  In the address bar type 192. 168 .0 .1  the gateway user name "admin" and password are on the sticker on the front including wifi passwords.  Find the Port forwarding tab in advanced settings I think it is and add "HTTP" port 80 for the Asus WAN IP that the Hitron assigned it, then save.  Second step is to port forward "HTTPs" port 8443 or just 443.  This will enable the app on your phone to work correctly outside of the home.  Make sure on the Asus to enable remote connection and DDNS if you have a dynamic IP from your provider.
