@Rallen00 -- I may need to drop out of Shaw ...

You could create a GMail or Hotmail ID, and use that ID, instead of using your "@shaw.ca" ID, without cancelling Shaw Internet (and being required to pay a "contract cancellation fee").

Also, switching to Bell or Rogers or Telus is a viable solution.

Rogers has out-sourced their E-mail processing to Yahoo. So, you will get an "@yahoo.com" E-mail ID.

Telus has outsourced their E-mail processing to Google. You will get an "@telus.net" ID to logon to GMail.

Or, of course, if you do switch, you can get an "@live.ca" or "@hotmail.com" ID, and use that ID, avoiding the use of the above ISP-supplied IDs.

Before you cancel with Shaw, contact Shaw, and threaten to cancel, and see if they have any "loyalty" promotions if you do not cancel.

@barbaraOst -- welcome to this peer-to-peer discussion forum, where volunteers try to help.

This forum is not a direct path to Rogers/Shaw Support [1-888-472-2222].

Call them, to investigate possible intermittent issues:

  1. failure of the network adapter inside your computer;
  2. bad Ethernet cable between your computer and the Shaw cable-modem;
  3. bad (or loose) coaxial-cable between the cable-modem and the wall-socket;
  4. bad coaxial-cables inside your home's walls;
  5. bad coaxial-splitter inside the Shaw "demarcation" box (where all the coaxial cable inside your home are aggregated to one coaxial-cable that goes to the BC Hydro pole;
  6. bad Shaw infrastructure up-and-down your street and/or neighbourhood;
  7. bad signal-strength reaching the cable-modem.

The more details you can supply, the better.

Ever since Roger's merger I've had trouble logging in to the servers on any device. Thinking of just switching to telus and saving the hassle

@StephenKoshman -- Ever since Roger's merger ...

I doubt that Rogers has made any personnel changes as they gradually replace Shaw's "network specialists" by their own employees, and I suspect that Rogers ordered a "freeze" on Shaw's infrastructure until they fully have transitioned management of the network to Rogers employees.

In short, I would suspect that you have some other issue.

What did Shaw Support [1-888-472-2222] when you called them?

Physically, where are you located? Have you looked at the "Shaw Outages" web-site for your province/region?

Can you supply some more details:

  1. any error-message when you try to connect
  2. your type of computer/device (iPad? Apple notebook? Windows 7/8/10/11 desktop?)
  3. do you have any problem accessing other websites (cbc.ca ? rogers.com ?)

to get a better response?

Ever since the merger, I can't access my email on my devices either, only using my computer. So very frustrating.
