Hi. martimurphy.com is a site i have accessed for several years. Suddenly it disconnected yesterday and I can no longer access it on with any device on my home network. I can access it only using data on my cell phone. I have contacted the webmaster who has no idea why this is happening. Is there some way to whitelist the site on my Shaw router?
Hi Tamara. I am going to pick up a replacement modem in Nanaimo this morning (arranged through tech support.). If that doesn’t solve it I will let you know.
Have a great week. Cheers, Darel.
Modem replaced. Problem fixed. Thank you.
Same type of problem. I have had my email host Elosoft.net blocked since about the first of August. Someone from Shaw said they would look into it but nothing has changed. Can you see if Shaw is blocking it. I can get access with my phone when not connected to Shaw WiFi but as soon as it it connects to WiFi it is blocked so I now use my phone as a virtual network and turn off my Shaw WiFi to use email. When you are paying $250/month but have to leave it off you begin to look at alternatives.
I asked a friend that has Shaw WiFi and he can't access it either so it is a SHAW problem.
@Frank2 Testing on my side here, I was not able to get connected to elosoft.net and https://www.isitdownrightnow.com also shows the site as being down. Can you confirm the exact URL that you're trying to access and not able to connect to?
Change DNS to Google still not responding. Also, tried Shaw and Bell, no go.
@Frank2 -- When you are paying $250/month but have to leave it off you begin to look at alternatives ... it is a SHAW problem.
What level of Shaw Internet are you paying $250/month for? Even Fibre+ Giga is not that expensive!
It is not a "Shaw problem".
There are 3 DNS-servers for the "Elosoft.net" domain-name, but:
$ tracert NS3.NAMESV.COM
Unable to resolve target system name NS3.NAMESV.COM.
$ tracert NS2.NAMESV.COM
Unable to resolve target system name NS2.NAMESV.COM.
$ tracert NS.NAMESV.COM
Unable to resolve target system name NS.NAMESV.COM.
and:
$ nslookup NS.NAMESV.COM 1.1.1.1
Server: one.one.one.one
Address: 1.1.1.1
*** one.one.one.one can't find NS.NAMESV.COM: Server failed
$ nslookup NS.NAMESV.COM 8.8.8.8
Server: dns.google
Address: 8.8.8.8
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.

So, none of the above DNS-servers is returning an IP-address for "elosoft.net".
You cannot blame Shaw for that!
