Connect a third-party router

@Squha -- with your Shaw cable-mom in "bridge" mode, use an Ethernet cable ("CAT 5e" or "CAT 6") to connect from the cable-modem to the WAN port on your third-party router, to allow your router to send/receive at whatever full speed that the cable-modem is provisioned to provide for its Internet.

Example: Shaw network <-- 300/600/750/1000/1500 Mbps -> cable modem --> Ethernet at 1000 Mbps -> your router -> your WiFi 6 device(s).

Then, your router can use WiFi 6 to connect to your wireless devices that are capable of WiFi 6. This WiFi 6 "cloud" will be independent of your current "mesh system", unless you connect your mesh system to one of LAN ports on your router.

What Shaw retail store-front did you visit?

I spoke with a Shaw rep yesterday. There is uncertainty that when available my Fibre +Gig account may not qualify for an XB7. The agent did start to craft a new two year plan that included the new Gateway for me only to find that at this time the Gateway is still not available in my area. The agent invited me to check back in a month or two.

Presently I have worked my XB6 Gateway down to one WiFi pod(super). I find my network is very stable and performs quite well. The MESH is symmetrical with the pod picking what I think are the correct devices to talk to. My only hope is that the new Gateway, that purports WiFi 6 will eliminate the need for a Super Pod.

As posted elsewhere I have steered away from buying extra gear preferring to rent. I think the math supports that decision. I rent my music and videos as well.
