@Tys -- a Shaw 1 gig plan and the max wifi dl speed I got was 860.
Shaw's "1 Gig" plan will deliver a maximum of 940 Mbits/second via an Ethernet connection.
Note that "1 Gig" is a "1" with a bunch of "0" following it, while (940 * (1024 * 1024)) is approximately the same value as "1 Gig". It is a "base-2" versus "base-10" counting system. Compare to buying fruit at the grocery-store -- pricing is "per pound", but your sales receipt shows "per kilogram".
So, I think that getting 860 out of 940 over WiFi is a "good" result. What is the distance between your WiFi device and your cable-modem? On the same floor in your home? How many walls between your device and your cable-modem?
