It is a known issue. I have been trying to get this fixed for WEEKS. A technician came out and didn't help at all. Chatted with support today and they said:
"We do have an emerging issue right now with wifi cable boxes experiencing what you are describing. We have our operations team investigating the issue as well speak. We do not have an eta on when it will be resolved. The issue is not just with your connection.
They are working to have it resolved as soon as possible as it is affecting customer in all areas :("
So unfortunately we need to suffer with this "audio cutting out" crap for quite some time.
Yup us too we have to turn on subtitles!! First last three Thursday Manifests & this weeks Debris I think? Not on this account tho as itβs closed.
I recorded Walker & it keeps skipping or losing sound! It's not my tv as I tried using another TV. Really annoying!
@Violet8393 -- has Shaw Support remotely logged-on to your PVR, and checked the "signal-strength" reaching the PVR? Having a "poor" signal-strength will cause audio/video "drop-outs" on live TV, and on the programs that you record.
Thank-you for posting this. I thought I was losing my mind. I have Shaw coming tomorrow to replace my PVR to help this situation. Is your PVR now fixed?
Audio dropping on recordings. Have had boxes for 2+ years, problem started a few weeks ago.
I have the exact same problem. Audio dropping out on recording and on live TV. Channel doesnt matter. At times fast forward doesnt work, just sits there and then all of a sudden takes of. Ive had my box for roughly the same time, couple years. Any of the community or Shaw have a solution. Do i need a new box.
@bergerman wrote I've had my box for roughly the same time, couple years.
Do you have an older-generation HDPVR, that records to a disk-drive inside the box, or do you have the current (very small) TV box (that uses WiFi to communicate with your cable-modem, and records to the "cloud") ?
If the former, it could be the case that the internal disk-drive is "dying". The disk-drive always records the channel you are watching, to enable "rewind" & "pause" to function. If the disk-drive is "slow", you see the video "freeze", while the PVR is retrying, over-and-over, to record the "live" content. Rogers may replace that old HDPVR, or they may want you to upgrade to the current TV boxes.
Nope I have the small box. Ive tried all the trouble shooting suggestions to no avail. I hesitate to call support cause Ill be doing the same trouble shooting with no fix. Some days are worst than other. but everyday we get some sort of freezing or audio dropouts Very annoying. He Shaw/Rogers if your monitoring this please suggest a fix.
