@ziggurcat The known issue that @shaw-tony referenced above can present as either a black screen or flickering picture, with the current workaround being to reboot the box as you've been doing.
I have been experiencing all of these issues over the last couple of weeks as well.
I've had the same TV and same AVR for months without issue.
Shaw tech has swapped the 4K box, and swapped the HDMI cables. Nothing has helped.
I had the Shaw 4K box connected directly to the tv for a few days, and it remained stable, although only supplying stereo sound. Obviously not the configuration I want or what was previously working.
I switched back to going through the AVR yesterday, this morning the problem returned. No video or audio signal. I had left the tv and AVR on a different input (Apple TV) overnight.
I rebooted the Shaw box, saw the welcome message, but ended up with no picture. Reboot a second time, and finally everything was working again. Although, the Shaw box seemed to struggle to get a stable video signal. Changed the Shaw box to output 720p to see if this helps.
Me too! Last I spoke with shaw support this was an unheard of issue and the tech support I spoke with said it was probably my TV and couldn’t possibly be the shaw box 🤦🏻♀️ I expained that it’s the same TV and cable that was being used with the gateway all but two days prior and since getting the blue sky box I can’t switch inputs without having to unplug and reset the blue sky box every time! Sooo frustrating
