Cablebox interferring with other Inputs

Here's one for you:

Currently, I run a LG Tv with a new Yamaha Rx-V6A receiver. Had bell receiver plugged in to it, zero issues.

I made the switch to Rogers this week, and now, whenever I am using anything other than the 4K box, the sound keeps switching from the receiver to the TV speakers and back without any input from me. If I unplug the cablebox, the sound stays consistent through the receiver, as it is programmed to do and then there's no issues.

I have tried expert mode, adjusted all settings on all devices (didn't love reprogramming everything), changing the input the box is plugged into, and even the Shaw online support recommendation of resetting the remote...
is this what i'm in for for the next 2 years?

Figured out problem. Both TV and Shaw receiver were set to CEC. So I turned off CEC in the receiver and left it on on the TV and hve not had issue since.

@Cr1985 -- how are all your pieces connected?

Maybe:

1. Coaxial cable into the cable-modem?

2. Computers connected via Ethernet cables to the 4 "LAN" ports on the cable-modem?

3. Devices (tablet, notebook, smart-phone, security-cameras) connected wirelessly to the cable-modem?

4. WiFi connection from the cable-modem to the 4K-capable TV box?

5. HDMI cable from the TV box into an HDMI socket on your TV? (HDMI cable carries video & audio signals)

6. Optical output from the TV's optical-out connector into the optical-in connector on your receiver?

7. Stereo (or surround system) output from your TV into RCA sockets on your receiver?

8. Is your TV configured to bypass using the internal speakers, and to route the incoming sound out to some "external" audio system?

1. Coaxial cable into the cable-modem?

Yes - Internet and cable both work as well.

2. Computers connected via Ethernet cables to the 4 "LAN" ports on the cable-modem?

Computer not connected to the receiver. On a separate floor via WIFI

3. Devices (tablet, notebook, smart-phone, security-cameras) connected wirelessly to the cable-modem?

Yes and are all functioning as they should.

4. WiFi connection from the cable-modem to the 4K-capable TV box?

Basement box is wired to the box instead of wifi due to sitting beside the modem. This is the box that's connected to my receiver.

Living room box is wifi and connected to soundbar via Optical connection from TV - No issues and a much less complex system.

5. HDMI cable from the TV box into an HDMI socket on your TV? (HDMI cable carries video & audio signals)

Have tried both - Cable to the TV and cable to the receiver. Both results in same sound issues.

6. Optical output from the TV's optical-out connector into the optical-in connector on your receiver?

No, utilizing ARC from TV and Receiver for 7.2 surround system.

7. Stereo (or surround system) output from your TV into RCA sockets on your receiver?

Surround system connected via ARC HDMI connections. All other devices - apple tv, blu-ray, switch are running through receiver.

8. Is your TV configured to bypass using the internal speakers, and to route the incoming sound out to some "external" audio system?

Yes, tv is configured to use external speaker system via HDMI arc. This is where the issue lies because when the Shaw box is hooked up and am using a different device or any of the smart features of the TV - ie: Netflix/prime/disney, the sound system toggles between the internal speakers and the external system.

If the shaw box is connected to the receiver, it interferes with appleTV's sound as the receiver is unable to function as if receiving some signal telling it to do something different. However, when just using the shaw box, there is no issue with the sound and it goes through the sound system without issue.

I have reset the remote, TV, receiver, restarted everything... right now the solution seems to be disconnect the shaw any time i want to use a smart feature or an external device because then I have zero issues.
