I am wondering if there is a resolution in sight for those of us experiencing a loss of local channels on the streaming app. I called in the problem several days ago. The service rep (Albert) tried for an hour to help, then told me others were experiencing a similar issue and it was being escalated. He apologised and provided several free PPV movie credits as partial compensation. However, five days have now passed with no resolution or communication. In the meantime, I have come across Reddit posts suggesting that local channels may be lost forever. Clear (any?) communication from Shaw Direct/Rogers would certainly be helpful.
@dougandsandy Never mind, I see what is going on. It looks like mobile access rights may have changed for some channels, you will probably have to set recordings if you want to watch while off of the wifi network.
Really? We are missing all of the Saskatchewan channels. We only really use the xfinity streaming app when we are in BC for a few months each year, away from our Saskatchewan home. Are you telling me we should just record a couple months worth of local newscasts for viewing when we return. If so, the app is useless to us.
Oh, and BTW, we also have another Shaw account for a rental property on Vancouver Island. If we can't get the local Saskarchewan channels through our Saskatchewan subscription, then surely we should be able to get the BC channels.
@dougandsandy You should get Global News. You can record the channels on the app and watch them on the app, you don’t need to wait until you return.
@dougandsandy No, you can’t. The reason you are not seeing the channels is not because of your location, it is because the mobile access rights changed.
@g-idk The networks aren’t available live on the app, while off home wifi. Could be more bickering between Rogers, Bell and Corus.
lol, what a mess, welcome to 2025. Gonna be lots of angry customers. I'd love to know if people on Bell television are having exact opposite issue and everything Rogers is either gone or somehow restricted.
We can't see any local channels . . . CTV, Global, or CBC.
