No IP when connected to my tv

JC13

I got a new smart tv and when connected to my PVR via HDMI and it’s not in use it shifts to no IP.”  If I turn it on, all seems to work. If I unplug the HDMI the pvr is fine.

I rebooted the pvr and Shaw did a reinitialization.

This is strange - does the tv interfere with the pvr? Any thoughts? Not sure if this is related to the June 2020 pvr update as well.

This is strange. Does the problem occur on other HDMI inputs? Maybe it has something to do with the HDMI-CEC or ARC on your TV?

Could it be a case of the new TV going into "power-saving" or "sleep" mode, and disabling the connection.

How is your smart-TV connecting to your cable-modem -- WiFi or Ethernet cable ?

Why is it trying to connect via IP?  All the Shaw-provided TV channels are received through the HDMI cable, not via IP.

Thank you! The issue was the HDMI ARC input. It must have been sending a signal to the cable box when it was off. Regardless, I’ve switched it to a different input and the problem has been resolved. Much appreciated!!
