@Spicer79 , whether Shaw/Rogers cares or not, has nothing to do with the manufacturing of the tv boxes. All the hardware is provided through Comcast/Xfinity in the states, so whatever boxes they use, we also use. So either the manufacturer of the tv boxes or maybe through request by Comcast to design them that way, they have removed the led display and some features that all of us came to love with the older pvr system. Shaw/Rogers hands are pretty much tied. It may suck but there it is.
@LisaMolnar -- as previously noted in this thread, press the GUIDE button on the remote-control, and read the top-line of the display.
Also, does your smart-phone display the date/time while it is on its "lock" screen?
The clock was on all the time and your solution requires the tv to be on. Your solution does not solve the missing clock (with the tv off) issue.

... and now for something completely different ...

@grannyirving -- can you purchase SmartGlasses: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartglasses
that offer Bluetooth access, and include a display of a clock, while you are wearing them?
