Shaw Blue Curve Wireless Player Xi6 Sound Issues

I just got the Blue Curve TV and gateway Modem after years with the old PVR cables boxes.   Modem was a breeze to set up - however I can not say the same for the Xi6.

In my set up I have everything hooked up to my Denon S490H receiver and its HDMI out ( with ARC) to my TV's HDMI ( ARC) IN.   I have a 55 inch LG 4k TV that's a couple years old.

I unhooked the HDMI from my old cable box and used that to hook up the new Xi6.    After going thru the set up - the picture worked great, however the sound was horrible.

I run a 5.1 system and I was getting most sound through my center channel and very faint from other speakers.  No sound from Subwoofer at all.   I checked the settings and changed it to uh Expert and not Stereo.  Nothing changed at all.  The sound is weak and very disappointing.

Everything was fine and working well the day before everything was changed.

What makes me even more confused, is the sound is screwed up for my PS$, the TV itself ( when using it for Netflix), and even the radio and all other music.   Majority of sound only through center channel - no subwoofer.

Also the 2nd Xi6 box is in another room is hooked up to a TV and the TV to a sound bar.  Again the sound is weak and its sub doesn't work either now.

Anyone have any ideas to what is going on ?   I have a tough time believing the Xi6 fried my system... but this is odd

I am a former Shaw Tech and Home Theatre Specialist. I had to connect the Xi6 to my TV for initial setup, and then unplug from TV and then into my new Onkyo receiver. I then have to go thru a series of turning the TV and Reciever Off/on, Off/on, switch inputs, off/on before the Video will come back on TV.....Every Time I either switch to a different video source (ie: Chromecast or Xbox) I have to go through this. I might try an HDMI splitter/patch bay, otherwise I might have to plug one Xi6 to TV, and a 2nd unit to my Reciever. My TV will not pass optical audio out from the Xi6 either....unlike any other Shaw Box I have used over the last 15 years. Very frustrating.

Had a similar issue, though not the same.  My issue was that upon connecting each wireless Xi6 to the receiver via existing HDMI cables (i have 3 systems), and putting it on Expert mode - the sound 'dumbed' down to 2-channel stereo only (ie, left/right only) - even though it was being broadcast in 5.1. After going through the Audio setup again and again and again, i've left it in the Auto mode, which for the most part is DD5.1.  All broadcasted sound channels appear properly on the receiver and play properly through the corresponding speakers.

Thought I would post my experience that I had today in the hopes of helping others. We had the wired pvr in our living room as well as the smaller wired box for another room. We ordered the new wireless boxes which I installed today.
The secondary room was set up 1st and it went well and worked fine as it does not use a receiver.
I set up the living room unit which passes through a Denon receiver. All worked 100% prior to the install. However immediately there were sound issues. Sound worked on some channels, not at all on others, some were very faint.
I also had a hard time pairing the new remote with my Denon.
I chatted with a Shaw tech to see if I could get some help. We bypassed the receiver to confirm the new unit worked fine, which it did.
we checked some audio settings on the Shaw system which looked ok but we had no luck in resolving the issue.
After the chat I played around with various sound settings on my Denon receiver using the Denon remote which I usually don’t use.  Boom I got proper sound on all channels once I toggled it to stereo. It still requires a slightly higher # setting on the volume compared to the former system but not significantly higher.
Lastly when pairing the new remote to the Denon, it would 1st move the volume up a 1/2 # then nothing. I selected “did not work, and tried again and repeated the process a few times until it worked properly. It appears to try a different remote code in the background each time until you have success although it does not tell you that and I just stumbled on this by accident. Initially I was thinking this wasn’t going to pair and the agent did mention they can’t guarantee it will pair with any piece of equipment which is fair. Glad I kept playing with it.
Happy to have self diagnosed the solutions and we will be keeping the wireless tv players.
I hope this may help someone else who comes across these issues.

I ham having the same problem. removed both old PVRs that had good sound. My main tv area uses a Bose Lifestyle 20 system that has always given great sound. Now it sounds terrible and the volume is way down. Depending on the tv channel selected, I can get sound from the 2 front channels on either side, all 3 front channels including the center, or all 5. The sub is also very low volume. The stingray channels have a terrible sound with the voice channel being quiet and garbled somewhat. I tried connecting the old TV boxes back up and neither work now "cannot connect".  I used to be able to watch tv at a comfortable volume setting of 25 on my Bose and now I have to have it a 50 for the same volume but the sound quality is gone.

The other tv room had the problem where the Xi6 remote could not complete the voice command connection after about 50 attempts (I assume each attempt it was trying a different tv code) on my 1 year old LG 4K tv. The sound on it is good on tv shows and movies through the tv speakers but the Stingray music channels are lower volume and the voice track is staticky and garbled if you listen very closely as well.

Personally, I think the audio is not carrying over well on the wifi or there is signal interference or poor quailty signal coming from the main wifi modem.

It's frustrating that I can no longer use my old shaw components for testing purposes some reason.
