My Samsung TV starts by itself late at night with no one in the room.

@cmostyn It could be a device connected to the HDMI-CEC, or an app. I think those Samsung TVs have log files in the menu that might have some information. Contact the manufacturer.

This has only started to happen since I switched to Xfinity TV from Gateway, so it has to be a Shaw/Rogers issue not the Samsung TV.

If you think that it is an issue with Rogers, contact Rogers Support [1-888-472-2222] to get official assistance.

How long ago did you "retire" the Gateway? Does the Samsung turn on every night?  Always at the same time?

I switched a couple of months ago. I think I may have solved the problem by turning off my HDMI-CEC setting on the Samsung prefs. The TV was coming on in the early morning, but I was not sure what time because I only spotted it when the light from the TV monitor woke me up.
