for some reason one of our friends already has it showing on his guide, he's already ordered it but i'm being told we cant yet?

It was a short year last year with no refund.
I hope they took that into account.
Nope, they are charging more this year, 189 $ for 56 games per team compared to 209 for 82 game schedule last year, and no refund for the shortened season. NHL tv has a better deal for the same package, same blackout rules, or find streaming sites!
