So I just logged into my.shaw.ca and see this disclaimer now...
"Effective July 15th, the required payment date will be 21 days after the invoice date and automatic payments will be 14 days after the invoice date. Late payment charges will accrue daily. For additional information, please visit our billing FAQ or automatic payments page on Shaw.ca,"
I have a problem with his. Why should I pre-pay for the upcoming month 1 week earlier than the service starts? I would totally get if we were post-paying then payment due dates wouldn't be so sensitive but when you pre-pay?? I'm sorry but this is complete BS, Rogers.
What I am understanging and please correct me f I am wrong.
Regarding the 2 July payments:
the payment withdrawn on the 9th of July is for the June invoice and the payment withdrawn 14 days / 2 weeks later is for the July Invoice.
Going forward we will be paying invoices for the current month rather than the previous month.
Is the above correct?
Can you clarify the August date for bank withdrawal. The letter reads 14 days after the invoice date. My invoices have been dated on d the 9th of each month.
Thank you
Suzanne Lively
@Mary32 that is incorrect. Shaw's policy has always been pre-pay. On July 9 you are paying for July 9 to Aug 8. The next auto-payment, should you remain on auto-pay, will happen approximately 2 weeks after July 9 and it will be a pre-payment for Aug 9 to Sept 8.
Going forward your auto-pay date should remain the same-ish but will be pre-payment for the following billing cycle. It will even out when you stop service as you would get any prorated charges back but the main concern that we all have is that they are unnecessarily taking payment much earlier than warranted.
Sorry when I check my invoices I can see that what I am paying on the 9th of this month is for my June Service.
@Mary32 Oh wow...I am so sorry! I have been wrong this entire thread! I was positive we were in a pre-pay situation but as you have confirmed, it is post-pay.
Ok this makes the change in payment date much easier to swallow.
Sorry everyone for misguiding you!
Hey don't apologize. I apologize to you. When we received the letter dated May 31, I went onto My Shaw and checked my invoice dates and the payment withdrawals were showing post pay, I checked again a week later and the same. Today I see the withdrawals are for pre-payment. I must have made the error when looking on My Shaw perhaps because I have always thought it was a post pay.
@Mary32 well I think now it's more of a "mid-pay" situation. Service starts on the 8th and you're paying 2 to 3 weeks after. (At least that's how I'm reading it now)
@JeffGWpg Weird. I wonder if there are some provincial regulations in play, I am in BC. Also, I am on a value plan. I checked back a few months and it was all the same.
