New to me, but on the Rogers/Shaw web site, it is not possible to un-hide caller ID. By default, "Hide my caller identification from other numbers" is turned on, and in Rogers' red, the note "This setting is not available". See attached screenshot.
My brother protects himself from some scammers by blocking calls that do not have a caller ID, so I can't call him. Or anyone else that uses this form of protection. See Rogers/Shaw: Privacy Settings / Block Calls / Anonymous calls.
This is new behaviour. I was transferred without notice to "My Personal Phone [DIGITAL PHONE] PLAN" at some point in the past so it may be a new feature.
After chat with Shaw/Rogers support, they were able to restore caller ID on outgoing calls. The issue has been escalated, and there is more to come.
@kenohrn -- on Shaw's page: https://support.shaw.ca/t5/home-phone-articles/star-codes-value-added-features/ta-p/5137
does the description of <star><eight><two> solve your issue --- it unblocks your next call, namely to your brother.
Or, can you text him, to tell him to call you?
