Rogers Xfinity Self Protection lets you listen to audio on live or recorded video feeds, and communicate back and forth with an arriving guest or courier who is at the camera or doorbell. This article covers how to enable and use two-way audio in the Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app.

Enable Camera Sound

To use two-way audio you first need the Camera Sound feature enabled. Once enabled, you'll be able to hear recorded audio through the app.

For a screen-by-screen walkthrough of what you'll see in the Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app, check out: Turning on your camera's sound (iOSAndroid).

  1. Open the Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app on your mobile device.
    • Sign in with your Shaw ID and password if you are not already signed in.
  2. Select the Home tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select the thumbnail image for the camera feed you'd like to enable two-way audio for.
  4. Select the Settings (gear icon) option in the upper right corner.
  5. Under the Preferences section, select the Camera Sound option.
  6. Select the switch to enable audio.
    • To disable audio, simply select the switch again.

Note: Once Camera Sound has been enabled, you'll be able to hear recorded audio in the live feed and recorded content from after you turned it on.

Using two-way audio

Two-way audio allows you to communicate in real time with somebody at one of your cameras or doorbells right from your Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app. The audio feed from the camera or doorbell will always be recording, but the microphone feed from your mobile app is push-to-talk.

For a screen-by-screen walkthrough of what you'll see in the Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app, check out: Using 2-way audio (iOSAndroid).

  1. Make sure you've enabled Camera Sound by following the steps outlined in the previous section.
    • Once Camera Sound is enabled, the audio will be active on the live feed automatically.
  2. Select the desired camera feed (e.g., front door).
  3. Select the Talk button in the lower right corner of the screen to open two-way communication.
    • You may be prompted to grant Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) access to use your microphone and record audio. Allow these permissions to use two-way audio.
  4. You'll now be able to speak to anybody present at the camera or doorbell.
  5. When you're finished speaking, use the Done button to turn off your microphone.
