By contacting Shaw (currently, online chat is preferred over telephone) and letting them do enough trouble-shooting so that they are convinced that they should ship a replacement device to your home, via Canada Post. Then, use the provided shipping-box to return, at Shaw's cost, the old device, via Canada Post. Get a tracking-number, so that you can prove to Shaw, if necessary, that you have shipped the old device.
P.S. How old is the disk-drive inside your computer? How old is the disk-drive inside your PVR? Such disk-drives typically have a 1-year or 2-year warranty. How old is your bicycle? your lawn-mower? your automobile? your children? 🙂
