Just an update. Apparently, some users will experience this with Shaw and even tech support was surprised. I'm not, considering the more than 60 minute and 100+ users on hold. "Some users" means those who are on Blue Curve.

Correct. This is a popular thread on this discussion forum.
Shaw gets the programming of the BlueCurve device from COMCAST, and the latest software from COMCAST removed the capability for the customer to change those settings via its web-interface. If you logon to http://Internet.shaw.ca you may be able to change some settings.
