can't send email in webmail with VPN

Schitzengiggles

For the last couple weeks I have not been able to send email. Using webmail I have discovered that if I turn off the VPN the send is successful. Tried different browsers. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution(besides turning off my VPN)?

Here is the error report:

To prevent spammers who have an IP-address "external" to the IP-addresses within Shaw's network from abusing Shaw's mail-server, Shaw's mail-server accepts messages sent only from a Shaw IP-address, not from the IP-address of the VPN-server to which your computer is connected.

So, disabling the VPN is the correct action to take.  Another option would be to use a GMAIL or HOTMAIL ID, because by logging-in to those services, you are then authenticated to send through their mail-server, instead of through Shaw's mail-server.

I don’t believe that this is correct, I can send mail through my mail client and we mail while on Telus internet and data, as well as when we are in the US and connected to Time Warner. There must be something else going on that isn’t allowing sending email while connected to VPN.

I can't send from my phone while connected to my home's VPN enabled wifi. I can send if I turn off wifi on my phone and use my phone's data. This is a new issue as I've had a vpn for a couple years.

Have you been using Shaw WebMail for a couple of years?

The whole point of a VPN is to "hide" your IP-address, e.g., you connect to a VPN in the USA, to access services like HULU that are geographically-restricted to IP-addresses known to be inside the USA.

Shaw sometimes "splits" its network.  My IP-address on Shaw used to start with "24.64", but now it starts with "96.54". So, it's possible that Shaw did some recent "splitting" in your city/town/municipality/neighbourhood ?

Maybe, the VPN-service has changed its IP-address?

I'm having the same issues. Not good at all. The whole idea with VPN is for protection from everyone. Waiting on Shaw to fix this or I'll have to go somewhere else. Telling people to use GMail or anything else doesn't work since SHAW appears to be the problem.
