Coaxial cable to phone jack

I am in a transit home with my shaw modem but cannot connect to the internet because only phone jack sockets are available. I am not sure if a coaxial cable to phone jack adaptor can work, and where is the best place to find this adaptor.

Thank you.

@KayodeOsinoiki  Hi, I can't see how that would work because Rogers/Shaw services do not come out of the telephone jack, so there would be nothing for your modem to connect to,  you need to have a coaxial jack outlet in order to connect to Rogers/Shaw services.  Does the home have any coaxial boxes at all?      P.S.  Don't forget you also have to transfer your Rogers/Shaw account over to the new address for it to even work as well, you can't just bring a modem to another house and plug it in, your account has to be transferred over to the new place for the modem to work.

Thanks. I always thought it was plug and play. I reached out to technical support and I was informed that the modem needs to be changed for it work in my new location (fiber).

This depends on how far away the two houses are.  In my area, there is one Central Office nearby, and another Central Office in the town that is about 15 Km away. I doubt that moving the cable-modem to a different C.O. would allow the cable-modem to connect.  But, moving it a few blocks away should work, because all of the cable/fiber infrastructure at each house eventually connects to the same C.O.

How much "geo-location" is Shaw using, to identify when a cable-modem is moved?

@mdk , yes that is probably true but I doubt the average person would know that and I thought to tell the person to phone in and make everything above board and correctly registered is all.  Bye the way did you get the news that this is all shutting down soon,  Now if you click on Support/Articlies/Service Updates you are automatically redirected to Rogers.com Support and no longer any Shaw pages, so I'm presuming this forum will be shut down soon as well.  Only thing left for Rogers to do is allow Shaw Account numbers to work for registration to there community forums, they already have the section in there for Rogers with Shaw customers, but only works for True Rogers account numbers at the moment.  So if they turn us off before I talk to you again, just wanted to say Thank You for all the support you have given to Shaw customers over the years.

@g-idk @mdk  Modems are node specific, so a modem could be moved anywhere from a half a block to a few blocks, depending how densely populated the neighbourhood. Could also be a lot less, I have seen 2 separate nodes in large apartment complexes, so moving a modem down the hall could take it offline.
