Humming router

My router hums constantly & is audible everywhere in the house. How do I mask it or stop it?

@BigKneesy -- you have voiced a common complaint on this forum about the fan-noise from the original BlueCurve modems.

Brand-new customers to Shaw Internet get "Fibre+ 500" and the newer "XB7" cable-modem. This modem has no fan, which implies quieter.

If you upgrade to "Fibre+ Gig" level, you are legible to get the "Gateway 2.0 modem" -- the XB7. A few more dollars/month, but "quiet".

@Don411 -- which router do you have? Cisco? Hitron? XB6? XB7?

My XB7 is very quiet.  Shaw shipped me the XB7 when I upgraded to "Internet 500", since the older router that I was using maxed-out at "Internet 300".  Via the local Canada Post outlet, I returned the older router to Shaw.  So, did you keep your previous router? If you did, did Shaw invoice you for not returning it?
