@Stickybandits93 -- am I gonna be getting a refund or my account prorated as I’ve been with out internet for a hour now .
Let's assume that you are paying $120 (including taxes) per month for Internet, and that there are 30 days in any month, and that there are 25 hours per day. Just to simplify the mathematics. 🙂
Thus, you would pay $4 per day for Internet, and the charge for one hour will be 1/25 of $4, namely $0.16 per hour.
So, approximately sixteen cents. How many minutes of your personal time do you want to "invest" to convince Rogers/Shaw to give you that credit?
@Niki4k / @Marya12 / @gepe -- where are you physically located? Anywhere in the BC Interior, where the forest fires have been destroying the telephone-poles that carry the Shaw infrastructure cables?
After the fire-fighters are done, it could take months for BC Hydro to replace the poles, and for Shaw/Rogers to run new cables between those poles. Also, there might be a need for rebuilding the affected roads (fallen trees, and mud-slides) -- that also takes time.
I have been out since 7:30pm on Aug. 21/23! It is now 11:30am on Aug. 22/23!! I will also be expecting a refund on my account as this is costing me a significant amount of money! This is unexpectable!
Yet another failure by Rogers / Shaw. Glad I have a different provider for internet that is actually reliable. And don't expect a refund, only your monthly bill to increase more!
@smithmoon -- from 7:30 PM to 11:30 AM on the next day is 16 hours. At $0.16 per hour (see above), your "significant" amount is 16*16 cents.
About "unexpectable", you probably have been getting "99.99 percent" of "uptime" from Shaw.
If you need 24/7 Internet for your home-based business, you must be proactive, to have an alternate Internet Provider, e.g. Telus, to enable you to "fall-over" if/when Shaw/Rogers has an outage. Plus, do you have a GENERAC oil-fired UPS to provide power to your computer when BC Hydro has an outage?
