Is it possible to keep our Shaw email address, if we no longer have Shaw internet? i.e. if moving out of the country, travelling, switching providers, etc?

No, you could try and find a friend or family member that has Shaw and transfer your email to their account

You can use Shaw WebMail while travelling, but you still will either need to pay for Shaw Internet, or, as the Other Person stated, move your E-mail ID to a friend/relative who is a Shaw Internet customer, and who will not switch to some other provider while you are travelling.

What happens if that friend decides to cancel their service in the future?  Will shaw notify me or will I just lose my email account and have no way of retrieving it?

Shaw needs to do better.
