MoCA 1.1 network with BlueCurve?

I've been running a MoCA 1.1 on my own network for a long time now. Almost 7 years. Been rock solid.

I have a MoCA/Wifi adapter on the main floor, and the reason for that is because when my parents try to use something over wifi, it would cause interference with my mouse. So I HAD to put an adapter there. My computer would be basically useless because of the interference.

My modem/router are in the basement, and I needed an internet connection to go up to the second floor. WiFi could not reach, and Ethernet Over Powerline didn't work either. MoCA did. So I stuck with it.

I also had 2 PVR's in the condo. One on the main floor, one on the upper floor. Both worked, so far so good.

That is until this week the audio from the PVR on the main floor crapped out. So we took it to Shaw and they gave us this new Blue Curve one. THEN we found out that the PVR on the upper floor had to be replaced, as it wasn't compatible with the new one.

Ok. So we did.

Then the trouble started. Now the bluecurve box on the upper floor won't work. We need a MoCa filter.

I do know that the BlueCurve system uses MoCA 1,0. Just like the network I have (and again, I absolutely need to use MoCA to get internet through the condo and to not interfere with my mouse.

How can these two systems co-exist without interfering with each other? I need my own MoCA network to get internet everywhere, and now my dad wants TV on the upper floor, which will use MoCA.

The ethernet ports are disabled.

Only this little guy can connect via Ethernet, and requires the BlueCurve Gateway.

@Aijuswannasing makes a good point, this is a very expensive and overly complicated way to avoid interference with your mouse. 😋

I believe some bluecurve boxes have eithernet ports on the back and unless shaw disables them, they should be active., so I would prioritize getting the box working first over coax, then see if you can use the the Ethernet port to plug in a new or perhaps the existing wifi AP.

I'm surprised that this is all to relieve interference with your mouse, tbh unless it was a very expensive wireless mouse your simplest solution would be to get a new mouse. Older wireless mice operate on on the same band as older WiFi networks, so if your main router is not 5ghz enabled and your moca AP point was ( and assuming your parents have newer devices) , moving to a 5ghz network would help alleviate traffic for devices with newer hardware. Some wireless mice have a channel button on the receiver, so try switching that up, or even in your AP settings on the main wifi router you can change the channel as well (although again, this may affect the performance of the overall network for one device that isn't even on it).

Shaw also sells mesh access points compatible with their bluecurve portal, or you can buy your own, but again, this would not be your easiest or cheapest solution.  If it's not a "special" mouse and you don't need it to be, it's easily replaceable. I can guess how much investing into a moca solution cost you, especially 7 years ago and it's a shame to see an incompatibility.
