I cant seem to get my ports to open... For example im currently trying to port forward minecraft and I opened the port 25565 for tcp/udp and It just doesn't seem to work... I added an inbound and outbound rule aswell through the firewall so im honestly not sure what to do... The only thing I notice in the shaw bluecurve is that my IPV4 address is different from the reserved ip that its forwarded on.. Im not sure if this affects anything but im honestly so stuck..
@CanEHdianboi -- my IPV4 address is different from the reserved ip that its forwarded on
That is strange. If you have not "bridged" the cable-modem, the IP-address that the cable-modem has assigned to your computer should either start with "192.168" or with "10.0.0" -- both being "private" IP-addresses.
On your computer, access www.who.is to see the "public" IP-address that Shaw has assigned to your cable-modem.
Please explain more of what you are noticing.
who is gives me an ip of 50.65.87.194, I port forwarded 25565 for minecraft to open the port but the reserved ip for it says 10.0.0.137 while my ipv4 through cmd shows 10.0.0.138, I thought maybe this is why the port forward is not working, most modems and routers let you change the ip aswell when port forwarding so I assumed the reason its not reading the port being open is because its opened on 10.0.0.137 and not 10.0.0.138
