I have an old iPod that still works, believe it or not, but it can no longer connect to my network after not using it for a few weeks.
Unlike Telus, Shaw has once again restricted functionality and user options within the app and Ignite/web portal: 10.0.0.01
The latest update, CGM4331COM_7.3p5s1_PROD_sey, has made WPA2 the mandatory setting which my iPod doesn't support.
It seems I may need to buy a third-party router where I can bridge it and configure my smart and legacy devices using 2.4 Ghz to use WPA.
Please let's not discuss why WPA2 is better; that’s not the focus of this post.

An Apple AirPort supports WPA.
Use an Ethernet "CAT-5e" or "CAT-6" cable to connect its WAN port to a LAN port on the cable-modem, and make a WiFi connection from your older iPhone to the AirPort.
Good suggestion but costly. All routers even my old one which can't do 5Ghz support the older legacy WPA to ensure backward compatibility—something that Shaw/Rogers doesn't believe in.
