Sender refused error message in e-mail

The error message reads:

The sender address was rejected by the server mail.shaw.ca.

The server response was: <> sender rejected

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

I am getting these errors consistently on my MacBook Pro laptop. I get them less frequently on an iMac desk machine, and almost never on my iPhone. I have my shaw mail set up as an imap account.

I have double checked settings, tried existing e-mails and created test emails. When sending the mail never leaves the outgoing box. Receiving emails is not a problem.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

As an experiment, reconfigure your E-mail program to change the "From:" field to something like "support@shaw.ca".  Then, see if you can send a very-brief message, now that the "sender" information is different. Remember to change it back, after this experiment.

Then, contact Shaw/Rogers, to ask why they are blocking your specific E-mail ID.
