@Willijo -- maybe, your BlueCurve has a problem.

From: https://support.shaw.ca/t5/tv-articles/bluecurve-tv-firmware-settings/ta-p/6840

Firmware upgrade process

This section explains how the firmware upgrades for the BlueCurve TV PVR and the BlueCurve TV Player (XiD) will occur.

How it works

  1. The BlueCurve TV Digital Box (also referred to as Set-Top Box or STB) gets firmware and stores it on the digital box.
  2. The BlueCurve TV digital box reboots (nightly or forced)
  3. The BlueCurve TV digital box operates on downloaded firmware.

Device Initiated

There are two scenarios when the device is initiated to access the firmware:

  1. Upon boot-up
  2. Nightly “checker

---------------

It is possible that something is going wrong in the above process each night. So, night-after-night, the process is retried, and fails again.

@rstra is correct -- contact Shaw Support.

@rstra -- Has a 3510 HD PVR

Thanks. @Willijo did not give the model-number, only the name "Motorola".

I have never had one of that model.

I've never noticed  the "overnight-reboot" event on any of the STBs that I have used.

@karenmj -- two possibilities come to mind:

1. overheating of the PVR, causing it to shutdown. Place the PVR in an "open" area, for maximum ventilation around it. Do not put a soft cloth underneath it.

2. depending on what region you live, check the Shaw Outages page, to see if there was a scheduled outage in your region, at the time that your PVR stopped. Note that "completed" outages do get removed from that web-page.

Are you "mad" or "angry" ?
