Wired connection issues

I am having problems with the wired connection timing out after several hours. Wireless works fine. After two calls to support (Yes I know I shoulda just come here!) I made the trip to the retail location and swapped modems. The timing out of the wired connection is MORE frequent! 

I've tried to dig through the archives and I have seen mention of firmware problems with this modem. My current modem is running

What should I be asking or requesting of Tech Support? They left me with a suggestion that maybe I only plug one of the three devices I plug in at a time. No a workable diagnostic process. We use ALL three connections for work. 

What are my next steps toward a solution?
