The battle.net setup just sat there doing nothing.  Fed up after trying several times I dug out my old disks.  Then I installed just the base WoW and ran it.  It still wouldn't connect.  I clicked help and then also added ports 8086-7, 9081, 9090, 9097, and 9100.  It still didn't work.  I then rebooted my modem.  Still nothing.  There is no reason it should be blocked to my account.

I've also complained to Blizzard about it.  Anyone have World of Warcraft running ok?  I just want to run classic.  I've got a refurbished computer that is faster than my older one, with newer video card but still a 1G, with 8G ram and Windows 10 Home.  Any suggestions on how to get it to run?  I ju

@ChipmunkChill I haven't heard of any reports of issues in connecting to WOW. What error message do you see? Do you notice any issues in connecting to other websites or battle.net forum? If it is a settings issue, a factory pinhole reset should be able to resolve that (you will need to set up your WiFi details again).

Do you have any 3rd party routers/switches attached to the modem? This may also cause issues as we recommend plugging directly into the modem to check for any connectivity problems.

I had the same problem and setting my dns to 8.8.8.8 worked.  I cannot use the wow companion app on my phone unless I disable my home wifi as well.
