Blue Curve and surround sound issues

Got Shaw Blue Curve and can't get surround sound. I did on the old PVR

I have a Samsung 4K Tv and a Pioneer receiver 

For the sound output on the TV the AV Selection comes up but disappears when you select it 

I am using HDMI from cable box to receiver and HDMI from Receiver to TV

The technician says I may need an optical cable instead of HDMI from the receiver to the TV

Anyone else have this issue?

You could try changing BC audio setting to expert mode

Chiming in on this issue a bit late but I never thought of asking the question on sound via these 4K tv boxes and now I am totally annoyed. On the cable connected boxes and hdmi connected to my denon 8500 receiver I could select almost any format . Now I am stuck with this stupid Dolby 5.1 format or stereo. Can’t get sound to me surround height speakers and now kicking myself with this move to a wireless tv box set up.

Agree . Switching to expert mode does help
