Can older PVR's still functional?

Our son was using one of of our older PVR's, a Motorola DCT3416, but returned it recently since he now streams everything. If it can still be used I'll try selling it on Kijiji for a few bucks but if not I'll simply recycle it.

@poolguybob -- that box is not on Shaw's list of "retired" (or "soon to be retired") devices.

It probably has an "antique" 160 GB IDE-interface 3.5-inch disk-drive inside of it.  Can you find an antique computer (Windows 95? NT? 2000?) with a motherboard that is compatible with it?  Or, if you need physical exercise, wear a face-shield and gloves, and wield a sledge-hammer against it, capturing the video for posting onto YouTube, on the next April Fool's Day, calling it an "unboxing" video.  🙂

Or, you could pretend to be "Shaw Technical Support", coming into your home, with full P.P.E., to "repair" the device, with your sledge-hammer.
