I no longer subscribe to cable but have this old pvr where the hd is full and no way to access the content.
Do i have to recycle it? It
@pambh1965 You could give it away or sell it.
@pambh1965 -- When you cancelled cable-TV, did Shaw ask for its return, or did they charge you for keeping this "rented" unit?
It has a 500 GB disk-drive inside, but it's probably many years since the warranty expired. But, you could disassemble the box, remove the disk-drive, purchase an "empty" external disk-drive case (for 3.5-inch disk-drives) mount the disk-drive in the case, and connect the case to a USB port on your computer, and use it the out-of-warranty disk-drive as a "backup" device. One can never have too many backups of your files.
Take the left-over parts to an end-of-life recycling-centre.
See this Shaw web-page for your HDPVR. It seems to be still "supported" by Shaw.
