I have just set upmy new Ignite WiFi Gateway modem and the Ignite HomeConnect app on my phone. When I go to my internet browser on my computer the new modem is blocking access to sites I normally go to. I know this because when I switch off Protected Browsing on the app then access to the sites is allowed. I am told by Shaw internet support agents that a site permissions feature of some sort is not available for this modem at this time.
I think it would be a tremendous improvement if this feature could be added so that Protected Browsing becomes more practical and useful so that if I want to go to a trusted site I won't have to turn off Protected Browsing every time and then when leaving the site go back and turn it on.
If you agree that this feature would be beneficial, please be heard so that Rogers will make this change.
@fjb1 -- what sites are being blocked?
Have you (and others) scrolled-down this page, to find the "Your Voice" hyperlink, to communicate your concern to Rogers/Shaw?
I don't think its relevant as to what sites are blocked. The fact is they are safe sites - I have used them for years, sometimes multiple times per day. Why should I be barred from a site just because some piece of equipment arbitrarily designated the site to be unsafe without providing the flexibility to allow for exceptions?
Are you saying you know of a solution? If so, would you mind providing more detail as to how to accomplish this solution. Thanks.
@fjb1 I don’t know if it is a solution, that’s up to you.

Thanks for your reply. My HomeConnect app does not have any Advanced Security. On the Home tab between 'Add smart devices' and 'Visit our privacy center' is 'Protected Browsing' not 'Advanced Security' as indicated in the detailed instruction of the link you provided. I'm confused and to why my HomeConnect app is different. Have there been changes? Are there different apps?
Do you have any further insights that might clarify the situation? If not, I will try to get some clarification from Shaw Technical Support tomorrow.
@fjb1 One of the requirements is to have an Ignite Internet Plan, you may have a grandfathered internet plan.
