Trying to use 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port

Hi,

I have a new Gateway 2.0 (XB7) and it has 4 ethernet ports in the back with one being 2.5 Gbps, but went I plug an ethernet cord into to the port and then into my tv (Samsung smart tv about 5 yrs old), my tv keeps saying it disconnecting from the internet but when I use the other 3 ports I do not get this error message. I have tried using 2 different cables and get the same results.

I would like to use all 4 ports if possible. I have plugged into it my Shaw Blue Curve TV (this fixed issues we have with had with it when using is wirelessly), I also have  Smart TV, Amp and DVD player all use ethernet cables.

Questions:

Is there a special cable you need to use for the 2.5 Gbps?

Is the 2.5 Gbps only compatible with certain devices?

Should I be using the 2.5 Gbps port for Blue Curve(currently in another port and works great)?
