Learn how to use YouTube Kids through the YouTube app on Ignite TV and Ignite Streaming. YouTube Kids is a child-friendly service designed for kids, which makes it easier for children and parents to find the content they're interested in. Ignite TV and Streaming provide a version of the service oriented towards children, with a curated selection of content and parental control features.

Note: A Shaw or Rogers Internet subscription is required to use apps on Ignite TV (formerly BlueCurve TV) or Ignite Streaming (formerly Shaw Stream).

Note: As of June 27, the YouTube Kids app will be removed from Ignite TV and Streaming due to Google integrating the service directly into the YouTube app.

How to access YouTube Kids on Ignite TV

The YouTube Kids app and content is visible to all Ignite TV customers. To access and watch YouTube Kids on Ignite TV, it is required to have:

  • Shaw or Rogers Internet Service
    • Shaw or Rogers Internet service is required. YouTube content is streamed to Ignite TV and Streaming over the internet, and YouTube usage will count toward your monthly internet usage.

You can access YouTube Kids through the YouTube app on Ignite TV or Streaming by voice command, or via the App menu.

  • With the Ignite TV voice remote, say "YouTube Kids" (if you don’t already have a profile, you'll be asked to set 1 up).
    • Note: Voice commands may be used to launch the YouTube app, but are disabled while using the app itself.
  • From the Ignite TV Apps menu:
    1. Open the Ignite TV Apps menu with the Shaw button on your remote, or the "Apps" voice command.
    2. Select YouTube to open the app.
    3. Go to the YouTube app on your smart TV, streaming device or game console
    4. On the Who's watching screen, sign in or create a new YouTube kids profile.
  • From the Ignite Streaming Apps menu
    1. Press the Home button on your Ignite Voice Remote.
    2. Select YouTube from the Apps menu.
