During playback, it suddenly turned off and then began flickering. I’ve unplugged it for 30 seconds plugged

it back in and now it’s stuck Like this.

Power button will not turn it off, holding the power button down does not make it reboot. I’m guessing it’s toast… Any thoughts?

Hi there, you could try pulling the power for a minute or so...and also unplug the coax. Then reconnect the two and give it some time like at least a few minutes of watching what it does. It should go through its boot process. If it stays stuck like that even after a few minutes with no screen action, call tech support to get them to see if they can communicate with it. Good Luck.

@Cosmogirl -- welcome to this peer-to-peer discussion forum. It is NOT a path to Shaw Support.

Since you have unplugged the power-cord, and then reconnected it, with no improvement, I think that it is kaput.

Contact Shaw (currently, online chat has priority over telephone) and get them to attempt to trouble-shoot, i.e., to try to remotely connect to it, and then for them to place an order to get a replacement shipped (via Canada Post) to you.  Given how busy Canada Post currently is, delivering Xmas presents sent by Amazon, it could be a whle.

Maybe, check the local web-sites, e.g., Craig's List and www.used.ca for a cheap Shaw PVR being offered for sale, by somebody who has switched to Telus, and now has a "surplus" PVR. Shaw can activate it, while you're waiting for Canada Post, if you need an immediate "fix" to be able to resume watching TV.

P.S. Check this Shaw web-site, to avoid purchasing a "retired" set-top box.
