Does the Xi6-A support digital audio?

I replaced my PVR and gateways (MP2000NA devices). In my living room I had the MP2000NA connected to my Sharp TV with HDMI. The TV connects to my BOSE Cinemate Series II through Optical Audio cable.

Since replacing the MP2000NA with the Bluecurve 4K player Xi6-A, no audio comes through the BOSE speakers. It's connected to the same HDMI port as the previous player. The BOSE still works fine from my Apple TV.

Any suggestions? I have been through all the possible menus and audio options on the Xi6-A without success. I suspect it will never work and I would need a different Bluecurve TV device that supports the audio?

Thanks

@leero the audio should pass through the HDMI -> TV -> Bose sound system through the optical audio cable. It may be a TV setting that isn't converting the audio to your sound system. Do you hear the audio come through your TV speakers?

Hi @shaw-tony . thanks for the reply.

Ya it doesn't. Not when the Xi6 is the source.

If I unplug my Apple TV HDMI and plug in the Xi6, it doesn't work. The Apple TV works when it is on the same HDMI port and passes audio over the optical cable to the Bose. Only difference is the Xi6. And as I mentioned, it worked on the previous Shaw MP2000NA.

I even have a spare Xi6 and went through and set it up and tried, again with no success.

I can use the TV speakers. They are just not very good compared to the Bose.

I have Xi6 players working on both optical and a HDMI audio setups. Two of my TVs have Xi6 players connected to the TVs via HDMI then out to Bose Solo speakers (which are fairly similar to your Cinemate speakers) using optical. From what I can tell Xi6 audio settings are only customizable for HDMI connections. Optical seems to be set by firmware. I wonder if there is a setting in your TV, perhaps in the optical or external speaker settings.

What model TV do you have?

Same issue here.  Bluecureve -> HDMI -> Sharp TV -> Optical -> Sony soundbar.  No sound from the soundbar.  Only TV speakers.  Soundbar works fine on other devices (blue ray, chromecast).  To make matters worse we don't have a remote for the TV.  Have to navigate menus with the side buttons on the TV.  L

Were you able to find a solution?

@lowercanada that should work, you may need to toggle your TV settings to enable sound from the optical audio output.
