Can anyone tell me if I can connect more than two Xi6 boxes via ethernet since the BlueCurve modem has only two ethernet ports? I think a dumb switch connected to the modem should do the trick but I'd like a confirmation.

Yes I have 5 connected and use a switch.

It is a matter of IP-addresses.
By default, your BlueCurve device gets one "public" IP-address from Shaw, and the device hands out "private" IP-addresses to all your devices (2 wired, and up to 250 wireless).
You can get a second "public" IP-address from Shaw. It "tunnels" through the BlueCurve, to one of the two Ethernet ports. Then, as the Other Person indicated, you can connect a router to that port. The router accepts that "public" IP-address, and hands-out "private" IP-addresses (usually to 4 wired ports and 250 wireless devices). A few routers have 8 wired ports. A switch can have 16 (or more) wired ports.
