How to activate an Ignite Self Protect device in the Ignite HomeConnect app

Before you can use your Ignite Indoor/Outdoor Camera (Wired)_TM, Ignite Doorbell Camera (Wired)_TM or other Ignite Self Protect home security equipment, you need to first activate it using the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app. This process needs to be completed separately for each camera, but sensors can be activated in groups.

Before you begin

For a smooth activation, please make sure you've confirmed the following before you begin:

You've created a Shaw ID.
You've downloaded and installed the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app (Apple App Store | Google Play Store).
Your Ignite Self Protect device has a good WiFi connection at the desired location.

How to activate a security camera

You will need to activate your Ignite Indoor/Outdoor Camera in the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app before you can control or view it.

Open the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app (Apple App Store | Google Play Store) on your mobile device.
- Sign in with your Shaw ID and password if you're not already signed in.
Select the Home tab along the bottom of the screen.
Tap the + Add devices button.
- This will appear as Explore Smart Devices if you do not have any currently active smart home devices.
Select Ignite Camera.
Select the Get Started button when prompted and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the activation.

How to activate a doorbell camera

The activation process for a doorbell is a little bit different from a camera. Once you've confirmed you have the correct tools and supplies, you'll be asked a series of qualifying questions.

Open the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app (Apple App Store | Google Play Store) on your mobile device.
- Sign in with your Shaw ID and password if you're not already signed in.
Select the Home tab along the bottom of the screen.
Tap the + Add devices button.
- This will appear as Explore Smart Devices if you do not have any currently active Smart Home devices.
Select Ignite Doorbell.
Tap the Get Started button when prompted.
Confirm that the Getting Started kit includes all parts and press Continue.
- The app will list the parts and show an image.
Confirm that you have access to the recommended tools to complete the installation and press Continue.
- These tools are not included in your kit and if you do not have access to them, you will require a professional installation. Visit How to install and activate your Ignite Doorbell Camera for more information.
Answer the on-screen questions.
Once installed, follow the activation prompts in the app.

How to activate a motion sensor

For motion sensors, you activate before installing.

From the Ignite HomeConnect app main screen, select Home.
Select Add smart devices.
Select Set up sensors.
Select Get started.
Bring all of your sensors close to your Ignite WiFi Gateway for the best pairing experience, then select Begin pairing sensors.
Remove the activation strip from your sensors to allow pairing, then select Next to proceed.
Once your Ignite Smart Motion Sensor appears on screen, select Continue.
Note: your sensor must be on and in pairing mode to appear on this screen.
Select Begin motion installation.
Select Begin installation.

How to activate a door/window sensor

For door/window sensors, you activate before installing.

From the Ignite HomeConnect (Shaw) app main screen, select Home.
Select Add smart devices.
Select Set up sensors.
Select Get started.
Bring all of your sensors close to your Ignite WiFi Gateway for the best pairing experience, then select Begin pairing sensors.
Remove the activation strip from your sensors to allow pairing, then select Next to proceed.
Once your Ignite Door/Window Sensor appears on screen, select Continue.
Note: your sensor must be on and in pairing mode to appear on this screen.
Select Begin door/window installation.
Select Begin installation.
