I did this two years ago when changing gateways but cannot remember or find how to do it.
It had to be done on my cell phone from the Shaw app, & you needed internet connection to be able to retrieve & re-install on new gateway from what I remember.
Going from XB6 to XB8 & need to take all settings across.
@tiger955 -- if you power-off your cell-phone, and then power-on it, it should automatically use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to download the correct settings, after you select the SSID being broadcast by the XB8 cable-modem.
I agree with @rstra -- do you have any "filtering" or "port-forwarding" rules defined in the XB6, that you want to recreate on the XB8 ?
Hi rstra,
Everything, I have several fixed ip addresses, device names, network names & passwords, e.t.c. It will take hours to recreate!
I did the backup / restore with a Shaw tech when replacing an XB6 with XB7 & then to another XB7 & then back to an XB6 because the 2.4Ghz WIFI was hopeless! I had 5 smart plugs that wouldn't stay connected when using the XB7, I'm praying the XB8 is going to work!
Thanks for your reply.
So, just got email from Rogers Monopoly with instructions on setup etc. :-
If you’re a current Rogers Xfinity App user activating a new Rogers Xfinity Gateway:
You can easily transfer your WiFi settings*, profiles and Pods from your previous Gateway to your new Gateway using the Rogers Xfinity App.
*Settings can only be transferred during the first set-up attempt in the app, once new settings have been saved the previous ones will be lost.
I'll let you know how it goes as the new Gateway has just arrived (letting it warm up first).
