A couple of months ago I closed my account with Shaw when I moved across the country. I signed up for email notifications about bills, but never received an email notifying me there was an outstanding balance on my account. Today, I received a phone call from a collections agency notifying me that the debt has already been sent into Equifax and will be a blackmark on my credit score. I called Shaw to figure out why they never notified me (via email OR phone) that there was an outstanding balance before sending it to a collections agency. I have two questions:
1) Can you please explain to me why I was never notified of this bill?
2) I've now paid the collections agency, but I would like Shaw to do something to fix the issue on my credit history. Please advise.

I have been having a similar issue. They sent the final bill to the wrong address and I did not realize I had an outstanding balance (equipment was also shipped back and I verified it was received with a support analyst). GS Contact Center contacted me and advised that they had placed my account in collections. The same day I received the call I paid the bill and was advised that it would not affect my credit score. Two months later it showed up on my credit report and immediately took my credit score from 859 to 773 … for a $214.00 bill I paid immediately after I found out about it. I have a couple homes and have been using Shaw on and off for 20+ years. I am so angry and disappointed with Shaw.
try to contact transunion and equifax and report them as wrong credit report and hope they upp your credit score and file descrepity. hope you file legal action over the wrong credit score for a bill that already paid. shaw should be ashamed, i never will be a customer again. hope they fix it. hope your new house morgage doesnt get affected.
Crazy, I am currently dealing with a similar problem minus the collections agency. I wish shaw had informed me of this final balance after cancelling my service. I spoke to a representative via their chat function, this individual failed to inform me of a charge of $139.45. I am now being told I did not pay my final bill on the plan which I believe I did but oh well corporations for you ☭
@Braydon_Rogers -- can you still logon to your My Shaw Portal account?
It should show all your payments, including your final payment, and any "reversal" of the charge for "non-returned Shaw hardware", after they acknowledge receipt of the equipment that you shipped back to them.
Did you pay your final bill before i damages your credit? so everything all settled?
Shaw had my email and I Never notified of final bill -- then sent to collections agency,
Shaw could have called to verify that i got my final bill.
It is really annoying that it happen, as well keep in mind some people cant afford the full payment depending on income.

if you are a "low-income" senior, and thus may qualify, through the Government of Canada, for lower costs (and lower speed).
Same thing happened to me!!! It was because the renter who was at my place didn't return their equipment I expect more from Shaw. I'm incredibly angry they took it this far
