Pods do the job

I had my solar installation completed this week. The system I got was a Solar Edge with car charger. This system is pretty comprehensive but had problems connecting to my home wifi out in the garage. I know my wireless irrigation controller sometimes drops a connection so perhaps the signal needed a little boosting.

At any rate the options were to make a direct connection via ethernet. That would mean the fellas would be back up in the attic fishing ethernet cable. Another option add a Solar Edge Gateway(booster) to the tune of $600.00, or a wifi extender with ethernet connection to the device.

When I saw the tech handing a D Link Wi-Fi extender I said wait a minute lets try my single Super pod. I didn’t want to add a foreign wifi extender into my XB7 and pod mesh which works very well. Lo and behold, the pod worked great! The tech ran an ethernet cable from the pod to the SolarEdge charger and commissioned the system. Everything worked like a charm. So now I have a Super pod in the garage and a second pod on order to go back into the media room. I easily changed the name of the pod to “garage” through the Shaw BlueCurve app. The bonus here is my irrigation controller now connects to the pod in the garage right away and is not relying on the XB7 gateway three rooms and many walls away. Thanks to Shaw for the 50% discount on rental of the second pod.

Needless to say I am once again impressed with this XB7 gear and mesh and the magic of all this tech. Status reporting from the Solar Edge app.Status reporting from the Solar Edge app.Ethernet connects to a Superpod nearby.Ethernet connects to a Superpod nearby.
