Printer won’t connect to new wifi network

I recently upgraded from the Hitron router to the Ignite Gateway. All my devices have reconnected to the new wifi network, except my wireless printer. The printer is about 10 years old and I wonder if it’s outmoded? Trying to troubleshoot as much as possible before I discard a functioning printer.

I can see the new network on the printer and enter the password but it doesn’t connect. Tech support split the network so I could try connecting to the 2.4G band but that didn’t resolve the issue.

Today I ran a wireless network test on my printer’s diagnostics. The results show that I have MAC filtering turned on and that I can add the printer using its MAC address.

I logged into the router. It gives me two options to add a device: Add a device with a reserved IP address or Add a device with WPS. (I don’t see an option to turn off MAC filtering.) I tried the reserved IP address option but I don’t know what the IP address is or where to find it? I didn’t try WPS because my router doesn’t appear to have a WPS button  — does the Ignite router have one and where can I find it? Any other thoughts on what the problem might be and how to fix it?

It's the age and lack of drivers... I had the same problem with a 10 year HP... I could print wired, but couldn't connect wirelessly and yet it was shown in windows and the router page... ended up buying a new HP printer and no problems, dual channel, it even connected wirelessly automatically without having to make any changes, not even the SSID or password.

@shargey -- have you accessed the HP Support web-site, to see if there exist any device-drivers that are newer than the device-drivers that you installed 10 years ago?

Can you do a "factory reset" on the HP printer, and then redo the WiFi setup?

@shargey  Did Rogers support have you go in to the Ignite Home app and split the bands?

@shargey  I am pretty sure that Rogers can’t do that remotely. You might want to try splitting the networks through the app.
