Any help would be awesome!

I am trying to access my company server from home.  i can connect to the company VPN no problems on WiFi, but when i go to connect to the SMB server, it just times out and nothing happens.  i am using a BlueCurve moden.  when i connect my computer via ethernet, there is no problem and i can access my company server.  Shaw cannot assist as they say as long as the internet is working on WiFi, thats all they are worried about.  I do not understand why i can access my company server on a wired connection, but not on a wifi. 

If anyone has any tips, or ideas, please let me know!  thank you in advance!
